Scott Harrison

Deputy Principal

Scott Harrison trained in Musical Theatre at GSA Conservatoire and The Dance School of Scotland MTC. He gained his PGCLTHE (Arts Education) from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and is a Fellow of both the HEA (Higher Education Academy) and the RSA (Royal Society of the Arts).

Scott is a freelance singing teacher and vocal coach, working mainly in theatre and television. He is the Deputy Principal at Associated Studios. He is also a Senior Lecturer in Singing and Musical Theatre at Leeds Conservatoire. He works around the UK, Europe and Asia regularly training students in all aspects of Singing Technique, Pedagogue, Repertoire and Audition/Performance Technique. He has previously worked at LAMDA, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, GSA Conservatoire, Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Arts Educational London, Italia Conti Theatre Arts, Bodyworks/Cambridge Academy of Performing Arts, Primoatto Productions, Rijn Ijssel (Arnhem, Netherlands), T’extpierement (Oss, Netherlands), Evolve Arts (Singapore), Sing’ Theatre (Singapore) and The Brit School, Croydon. 

Scott can be seen as the vocal coach on 2 series of ITV’s ‘All-Star Musicals’. Scott also created the BBC Maestro’s course in ‘Writing and Performing Musical Theatre’ with Sir Tim Rice and was a major contributor on the series.

Further experience includes designing and leading courses in ‘Integrative Voice Practices’ for Singing and Voice Teachers run at the National Opera Studio in London in conjunction with Arlene Rolph’s The Singing Entrepreneur, and designing and leading teacher training courses for Musical Theatre and Pop teachers in the Netherlands. These courses are part of the highly successful ‘Musical Theatre Singing Intensive Course’ which Scott has designed and run for 8 years in conjunction with T’eXtpierement Theaterschool. He was asked to present at Eurovox 2020 in Edinburgh, and subsequently presented for AOTOS as part of their masterclass series.
His passion for integrated practice and his experience with a broad range of methodologies and approaches will see him researching the area further in the near future.
Scott also is invited on a yearly basis to run workshops and masterclasses in Singapore, primary with Sing’Theatre and LaSalle. 2019 was his 4-year teaching sell out classes to professionals and amateurs alike. 

Further teaching credits include being Choirmaster and Singing Tutor at Enfield Grammar School; Pianist and audition consultant for companies around London and Essex including: NCL International, The Charing Cross Theatre London and The Growing Studios London. On top of all this, Scott also has a private singing practice where he works with a wide range of clients from some of the West End’s top leading performers and current recording artists. 

Scott has also worked as a professional performer. Some of the performance work he has been involved in includes: Butler/Asher in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (National Tour), Doug in Original Irish Cast Album of Elegies: For Angels, Punks & Raging Queens, The Intruder in See How They Run (Pomegranate Theatre), Originated the roles of Roy in Supermarket! The Musical/Rebels and Retail and Ford Maddox/Hangman in Scandalous! (Nottingham Playhouse), Ensemble in Only The Brave (Concert), leading man Diamond Jim in The Diamond Horseshoe (Disneyland, Tokyo), Frank Lacey in ITV’s Alberts Memorial alongside David Jason and David Warner, and Psycho Joey & Sketch regular in BBC’s Life According to Fred alongside comedian Fred McCauley. He is also no stranger to performing in the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall having performed in such pieces as Berlioz – Te Deum under the direction of internationally renowned conductor Susanna Mälkki with the BBC Symphony Choir.
