Training: Danny Whitby was an organ scholar at Peterborough Cathedral, before reading music at Goldsmiths College, University of London.


Theatre includes: As Musical Director: Cats (UK tour), Showstoppers (Bermuda), Little Shop of Horrors and The Threepenny Opera (Theatre Royal, Norwich), Notes from New York (Arts), Shopping and Singing (The King’s Head) and Do I Hear A Waltz? (Landor). As Associate Musical Director: The Wizard of Oz (Royal Festival Hall). As Assistant Musical Director: The Wizard of Oz (London Palladium), Me and My Girl (Sheffield Crucible), The Sound of Music (UK Tour), Cats (UK tour), The Green Heart and Enter The Guardsman (Manhattan Theatre Club, New York) and Scrooge (Palace Theatre, Manchester and London Palladium).


In the West End, Danny has played keyboard/rehearsal piano on Ghost, Wicked, Oliver!, Hairspray, Spamalot, Mary Poppins, Mamma Mia!, The Phantom of the Opera, Guys and Dolls, as well as on tick, tick… BOOM! (Menier Chocolate Factory) and Funny Girl (Chichester).Recordings/radio/film credits include: The Wizard of Oz (London Palladium cast), Scrooge (London Palladium cast), Ten Cents a Dance (Nancy Anderson’s solo CD), Loose Ends (Radio 4), In Tune (Radio 3) and Confetti (BBC Films).


Danny has also taught at Mountview Academy, Millennium Performing Arts, The Urdang Academy, Arts Educational Schools, Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, and on the Voicelab programme at The Southbank Centre alongside Mary King.
