This new 1-year full-time Opera Course is designed to introduce talented singers to intensive study and development of the skills required to pursue a career in Opera. This course is designed for singers who demonstrate operatic potential but would benefit from a period of intensive study of all aspects of an opera singer’s craft.

Participants will work to develop their vocal and dramatic skills with eminent industry practitioners including Conductors, performers, language specialists, Repetiteurs, Directors and specialised coaches.

The primary focus of this course is to work on the essential skills needed to launch a successful career. The programme will focus on the  all -round performer, in particularly stagecraft and acting, as well as rehearsal with eminent Opera Directors, Conductors  and  Repetiteurs. Vocal mastery, technical ability and stamina will also be a primary focus. One to one coaching sessions are included as part of the programme.

“After completing my training in the U.S and pursuing a career in the UK, I found it difficult to make the relevant contacts in London to help further my career. The Associated Studios London have been immensely supportive in directing me along the right path to achieve this aim. From working with a widely diverse group of professionals, on a one to one basis and creating important relationships, essential in this business, has helped me enormously on this next stage of my development. I am forever grateful to the amazing and unique team at Associated Studios London, and am lucky enough to know that their endless support is only a phone call or email away!” (former student Jessica Costelloe)

‘I believe that the Opera Course offers young and aspiring singers valuable opportunities to connect with professionals, outside of the traditional music college environment. The expertise we can share, coupled with the nurturing and challenging environment provided by Leontine Hass and her team, combine to stimulate and provoke singers as they prepare for the rigours of a performing career.’ Brad Cohen (Conductor)

‘Nothing could have prepared me for the sheer volume of talented performers, directors, conductors and tutors I worked with throughout my time on the Opera Course with Associated Studios London. I learned more about Baroque style and recitative from Lawrence Cummings in 6 hours than I had in my entire career prior to that. Highlights for me included the amazing drama workshop with Robert Fried and an aria session with Brad Cohen but I received so many pearls of wisdom from everyone who taught at the studio. I was greatly humbled by the care and dedication shown to me by Leontine and her lovely team. I was encouraged to try repertoire that I might not have chosen previously (which suited me beautifully) in a safe and fun environment where I was given the opportunity to experiment, play and make mistakes. I am also quite excited by the contacts that I’ve made during my time on the course and have already been hired to play Josephine in HMS Pinafore with Lyric Opera in Ireland in Feb 2014. I am incredibly grateful to have been awarded a scholarship to study with Associated Studios London, without which it would have been tremendously difficult for me to do so.’ (Emma Walsh – former student)
