We prefer potential students to observe a normal day rather than a formalised open day to give you the opportunity to get a real feel for the school. You will be able to take part in a Dance Class led by Mike Denman and join Musical Theatre Histiory with JBR in the morning, as well as work with Principal, Leontine Hass. Then in the afternoon you will be able to watch the presentation of this terms swing projects which are exercpts from Steel Pier and Kiss Me Kate - the sessions being led by Ben Papworth and Bret Jones.
If you would like to join us but cannot attend on this date, we will also be running open days on Thursday 30th November 2023, Monday 22nd January 2024 and Monday 3th March 2024.
Mike has been performing professionally for the two decades and now wants to share his knowledge and experience.
Originally he set up Mike’s West End Workshops back in March 2017 and traveled all over teaching workshops of the musicals he’s been in to dance schools all over the UK and Europe, receiving incredible feedback from every school he visited.
Being originally from the north he always felt that getting the chance to work with current and experienced West End performers was out of reach for anyone outside of London.
So he set up Denman Theatre, “To bring the West End closer”.

Leontine Hass is an internationally renowned Vocal Coach and Founding Principal / CEO of Associated Studios London and Melbourne.
Leontine has a busy private practice comprising commercial recording artists, West End Musical Theatre performers and younger, aspiring students. She teaches workshops and lectures internationally on singing, voice and performance. She rehabilitates voices after surgery, or as surgery prevention.
Leontine has acted as vocal consultant to various music management and production companies including ‘Motown’ at The Shaftesbury Theatre West End. TV work includes ‘The Voice’ (BBC/ITV), The Gareth Malone show, ‘The Naked Choir’(BBC2), ‘SING ON! (Netflix) and The Michael McIntyre Show (BBC).
She has served as a columnist at various publications including Voicecouncil.com and The Stage newspaper. She is a contributor to ‘The Singer’s Complete Guide to Vocal Health’ (Oxford Uni. Press), and advisor/contributor to ‘The Ultimate Guide to Singing’.
Having originally trained as a classical singer (BA, Melbourne Uni, BMus. Kings College London, Dip. RAM), Leontine went on to study Musical Theatre at the Royal Academy of Music. She has performed as a singer and actress in concert, theatre and TV.
JBR is the director of JBR Creative Management, a London-based personal management agency working with multi-platform creatives across the performing arts industry. J has almost four decades of experience in the industry having worked as a teacher, director, producer, writer, dramaturg, coach, and acted in radio, film, TV, stage, musicals, and opera. For a number of years, they were the editor of the UK’s only magazine aimed at emerging industry talent, “Fourthwall & The Drama Student” and they are the author of "Getting, Keeping & Working With Your Acting Agent", published by Nick Hern Books.
Ben is a musical director and musical directing credits include: Pirate Queen Music Assistant (The London Coliseum); Aladdin Pantomime (Daryl Back, White Rock Theatre Hastings); Tori Scott Pickled (UK Tour); Little Women (Italia Conti); Stages Fest MT Cruise (Royal Caribbean); Piramania! Bret is a professional actor and dancer, hetrained as an actor at the Drama Studio London and later worked as a dancer. Over the past thirty years, he has acted in ‘straight’ plays and performed in dance shows and musicals in the UK, including the West End, and in Europe. He has performed on stage, television, in film, music videos, and in commercials.
Bret is an original member of the 2015 Britain's Got Talent dance phenomenon Old Men Grooving (check YouTube), who also has three master's degrees and a Ph.D. With 20 years of experience teaching in UK performing arts conservatoires, like Guildford School of Acting and East 15 Acting School. He has also taught at Anglia Ruskin University and Queen Mary, University of London. His undergraduate and postgraduate education is interdisciplinary. His academic and teaching career spans several performance and academic areas and disciplines, both contemporary and historical, and integrates disciplinary, research, and writing skills, enabling him to adapt to changing institutional or student needs.
